Is there any chance this page could be broadened to include a few other categories? Specifically, I believe there should be separate categories for solo instrumental music and chamber music. In my experience, chamber music consists of music performed by two or more musicians, but not a solo musician. Sparkyfry 12:02, 9 March 2007 (EST)

Based on the conversation going on here, I'm now wondering if it might make more sense to split this off into two distinct browsing options: "browse by piece structure" (i.e, trio sonata, symphony, sonata, etc.) and "browse by instrumentation" (i.e., piano trio, string trio, string quartet, wind quintet, etc.). "Genre" is a musically vague word, and including separate "subgenres" for things like "Sonata (other)" and "Duet" leads to some confusing results. For example, where would you include Prokofiev's Sonata for Two Violins?
Sorry for my over-abundance of ideas. I must be really annoying today.Sparkyfry 18:21, 9 March 2007 (EST)
Lol... no worries :) The problem with this is that while that idea is easy, actually doing it is hard as hell... for example, the search function for the instrumentation will be hell on earth to design (how exactly do you express what you want to search for? what happens if there are more than 1 of a particular instrument?) Therefore, I will have to think about it for quite a long time before I can actually do this. Of course, I also have to take into account the current structure on IMSLP, and adjust accordingly.
Therefore, don't expect the function to be implemented anytime soon... and this is on top of the fact that this year is probably one of the busiest for me. Thanks for your ideas though :) --Feldmahler 21:17, 9 March 2007 (EST)
